Into The Wild

At WilCo Outdoors, we want to make the outdoors accessible to beginners who are serious about learning the right way. Into The Wild is a fully sponsored, one-time hunting experience designed to give new hunters a complete introduction to the sport — mentorship, education, gear support, and an actual guided hunt — all at no cost to selected participants.

Because this experience is fully sponsored and resource-intensive, applicants must apply, and selection is not guaranteed. Spots are minimal, and chosen individuals receive everything they need for a safe, ethical, and confident first hunt. This is available in Central/Eastern MO and NE Arkansas.

What Into The Wild Includes — For Free, If Selected

1. Pre-Hunt Preparation & Gear Support

Before the hunt, participants receive guidance to make sure they are fully prepared. This includes:

  • Assessing gear needs

  • Guidance on what to bring and how to set it up

  • Safety, hunting ethics, and basic skills review

If needed, WilCo Outdoors will provide the essential gear to ensure the participant is fully equipped for the hunt. This may include clothing, safety equipment, and hunting tools — all at no cost.

2. One Fully Guided Hunt

The centerpiece of the program is a single, comprehensive, in-field hunt designed to give a beginner the full experience. During this hunt, participants learn:​

  • Proper setup, positioning, and movement

  • Basic Calling

  • Real-time decision-making in the field/timber

  • Ethical hunting

  • Handling game

This one hunt is built to “cover the bases” for a complete introductory experience.

3. Mentorship Throughout the Experience

From pre-hunt preparation to the final moments in the field, each participant is guided by an experienced hunter who ensures they understand not just what to do, but why it matters. Hands-on guidance helps turn knowledge into confidence.

4. Community & Outdoor Connections

Participants are connected with Wilco Outdoors’ community of experienced hunters and sponsors. This network offers encouragement, advice, and support both during and after the hunt.

How the Sponsorship Works

Because Into The Wild is a one-time, fully sponsored experience:

  • An application is required

  • Spots are minimal

  • Acceptance is not guaranteed

  • Applicants are chosen based on commitment, interest, and readiness to learn

This ensures the sponsorship goes to those who will truly benefit from the experience.
